About GlyPop
GlyPop is a small web tool for decorating short text - a profile bio, a nickname, a caption - and copying it in one tap. The name puts together glyph and pop.
What it does
Type a line, watch it convert on the spot, press Copy on the card you want. The first screen is the All tools directory, and the tools sit in five groups:
- Fonts & text - Unicode styles for Latin, Korean wrappers and transforms, multi-line kits, text effects, scary text, big text, the ASCII banner, width conversion and Japanese kana.
- Symbols & faces - the symbol picker, the emoji and symbol catalogue, the emoticon library and the face builder, the Unicode explorer, the pictogram keyboard and the symbol extractor.
- Art - the ASCII art gallery, a picture-to-dot-art converter and a dot editor.
- Useful - counting text, an ASCII calendar, Morse, secret text, line breaks and hashtags.
- Play - reaction comments, an emoji quiz and an emoji fortune.
What each tool does, and where it stops, is written out a line at a time in the guide. One tool takes a picture, and even that one never uploads it - it is read inside your browser.
How the conversion works, and where it stops working, is written out in the guide. The short version: this is not a font you install, it swaps in different Unicode characters, which is also why some devices show a box (□) instead.
What "runs in your browser" means here
Converting, copying and counting all happen in the browser that opened this page. Your text is not sent to a
server and is not put in the address bar. The only values the address bar carries are the language
(lang) and the tool you are on (tool).
- No accounts, no sign-in, no registration.
- Nothing saves what you type. A reload clears it.
- Favorites store only which items you picked - styles, symbols, decorations, kit layouts, nickname pairs - in this browser. Never your text, and nothing is synced.
- The symbol search box lives in memory and is gone when you leave the page.
What the site actually does today is written down in the privacy page.
How it is built
A static site of plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no third-party libraries and no build step. Converting your text sends nothing to a server (the files the page needs are fetched from this site's own domain as usual). The symbol list and the style grouping were chosen and named here rather than taken from anyone else's catalogue.
