Result

Enter a start date and an end date to see the number of days between them.

How it is calculated

days = (end date − start date) ÷ one day (+ 1 if the start date is included)
  • Only calendar dates are compared. Dates are normalized to UTC midnight, so a time zone or daylight saving change does not change the count.
  • Leap day counts normally: 2024-02-28 → 2024-03-01 is 2 days.
  • If the end date comes first, the calculator uses the absolute number of days and says the dates were entered in reverse order.
  • The same date entered twice is 0 days without the option, or 1 day with the start date included.
  • The years, months and days breakdown follows calendar month lengths. For example, 2024-01-31 → 2024-03-01 is 1 month and 1 day.
  • The calendar breakdown describes the interval between the dates; including the first day adds one to the total day and week counts.
  • Impossible dates such as 2025-02-29 or 2025-04-31 are rejected.

Examples

1. Counting the first day

January 1 to January 31 is 30 days between the dates, or 31 days when both dates count.

2. A leap year

2024-01-01 to 2025-01-01 is 366 days; 2025-01-01 to 2026-01-01 is 365 days.

3. Calendar breakdown

2024-01-31 to 2024-03-01 is 30 days, shown as 1 month 1 day on the calendar.

4. Reversed dates

Entering 2025-12-25 as the start and 2025-01-01 as the end still gives 358 days, with a reverse-order notice.

Please note

Business days are not calculated: weekends and public holidays are not removed. Decimal weeks are simply the day count divided by seven.
