How it is calculated
- The percentage discount is applied before the fixed coupon. Reversing that order can change the answer.
- If the coupon exceeds the remaining price, the final price stops at 0 KRW. The unused part is shown separately and is not refunded.
- Negative prices, coupons, and percentages are rejected. Discount percentages must be between 0% and 100%.
- A 100% discount cannot be reversed to a unique original price.
- Sequential discounts are applied to the already reduced price, from first to last. Their percentages are not added. This mode does not include coupons.
- With a selected rounding unit, the final-price mode rounds after subtracting the coupon; the sequential mode rounds after each step. Nearest, down, and up use multiples of the selected KRW unit. With no unit selected, calculated prices are rounded to two decimal places in KRW. Displayed values may also be shortened to two decimals.
Examples
1. A simple discount
At 25% off an original price of 48,000 KRW, the final price is 48,000 × 0.75 = 36,000 KRW; savings are 12,000 KRW.
2. Sequential discounts are not added
On 100,000 KRW, 20% off followed by another 10% off gives 100,000 × 0.8 × 0.9 = 72,000 KRW, an effective discount of 28%, not 30%.
3. Find a discount rate
If the original price is 48,000 KRW and the final price is 36,000 KRW, the rate is (48,000 − 36,000) ÷ 48,000 = 25%.
4. Percentage first, coupon second
With 20% off 42,000 KRW, then a 3,000 KRW coupon, the final price is 30,600 KRW. Savings are 11,400 KRW, an effective rate of about 27.14%. Applying the coupon first would instead yield 31,200 KRW.
5. A coupon larger than the price left
10% off 5,000 KRW leaves 4,500 KRW. A 10,000 KRW coupon brings the final price to 0 KRW; the unused 5,500 KRW is shown separately.
6. Reverse a sale price
After a 25% discount, a final price of 36,000 KRW came from 36,000 ÷ 0.75 = 48,000 KRW. A 100% discount cannot be reversed.
7. Round down to 100 KRW
37% off 19,900 KRW gives exactly 12,537 KRW. Rounding down to a multiple of 100 KRW gives 12,500 KRW, so savings are 7,400 KRW.
Note
Actual checkout totals can differ because of a seller's rounding, shipping, coupons, or rewards. This calculator uses the entered KRW prices for reference.
